Net Zero Retrofit

Loft Insulation

One of the easiest and most effective measures to install in your home is loft insulation. With 25% of the heat in your home escaping through the ceiling and roof, adding insulation makes it harder for the warm air to escape. This ensures the heat stays inside, keeping your energy usage down.

Benefits of loft insulation

Keeps heat inside your home – 25% of heat in your home is lost through the roof. By insulating the loft, you dramatically reduce this loss, keeping the heat where you want it.

Improves thermal comfort – Loft insulation keeps your home warmer in Winter and cooler in Summer.

Adds sound insulation – Loft insulation acts as a sound barrier by absorbing and damping sound waves.

Installation Information

Before we can install loft insulation, your loft must be clear of belongings. If you need help or support to safely clear and store your items, please contact us.

Once a loft is clear, our installers can usually complete the work in one day.

Inspect regularly – Periodically check the loft space for any signs of damage or wear, such as damp spots or disturbed insulation.

Keep clean – Ensure your loft area is kept clear of debris and personal possessions. Avoid compressing the insulation, as this can reduce its effectiveness.

Repair promptly – Report any damages or gaps in the insulation immediately, to prevent heat loss and further deterioration.

Avoid storage – Do not store heavy items directly on the insulation, as this can compress and reduce its thermal efficiency. If you need storage in your loft, speak to your landlord and they can discuss alternative options with you.

Ventilation – Loft insulation can lead to condensation build up on your walls if you don’t keep your home ventilated, so make sure new fans are always turned on. For optimal performance of the continuous extract ventilation system in your kitchen and bathroom, please keep the trickle vents in the windows of these rooms closed at all times. The fans are incredibly efficient have very low running costs.
